Towns and Villages in The
Cotswolds:
aaaaa The Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful parts
of England and also one of the most visited. There are many
beautiful places to visit including, Bibury, Bourton on the
Water, Broadway, Burford, Castle Combe, Charlbury, Chipping
Campden, Chipping Norton, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Evesham,
Lacock, Moreton-in-Marsh, Naunton, Northleach, Painswick, Slaughters,
Snowshill, Stow-on-the Wold, Stratford-upon-Avon, Tetbury, Winchcombe,
Woodstock.
Whichever Town or village in the cotswolds you
choose to stay in you will find it difficult not to be impressed
with the variety of high quality and picturesque bed and breakfasts
that the cotswolds has to offer. These range from small picture
postcard cottages made from the famous york stone, upto beautiful
manor houses. Many bed and breakfasts in the towns that make
up the cotswolds are also recommended by the AA or RAC.
Things To do and Places to visit in the
Cotswolds:
No matter which cotswold town or village you choose
as your base you won't run out of things to do or places to
see. You can visit the larger market towns such as Stow-on-the-Wold,
Cirencester, Chipping Norton and Tetbury which have lots of
shops. Or why not try Bath with it's famous roman baths, and
try a glass of the famous spring water, or visit beautiful Cheltenham.
If it's history and scenic walks then visit Castle
Combe which is often referred to as the prettiest village in
england. Castle Combe was used in the filming of many tv programmes
and movies including the 1966 movie Doctor Doolittle. It is
just 12 miles from Bath.
Another beautiful cotswold village
is Bourton-on-the-Water which is often known as the "venice
of the cotswolds" because the River Windrush runs right
through the centre. Bourton-on-the-Water has many attractions,
suitable for visitors of all ages. The Model Village is a replica
of the village itself, Birdland Park offers woodland, river
and gardens inhabited by over 500 birds, and there is also the
Cotswold Perfumery!
If you visit Bibury then I would recommend a trip
to the Bibury Trout Farm. This is a working Trout Farm rearing
high quality rainbow trout. Visitors can enjoy feeding the fish.
You can also purchase some trout from the farm shop to take
home and they also have beginners fishery in the summer.
Bourton-On-The-Water is also home to the Cotswold
Motoring Museum and Toy Collection
Tetbury is home to Westonbirt Arboretum. Set in
over 600 acres of beautiful cotswold countryside it boasts many
miles of paths to follow and is home to over 3000 different
trees and shrub varieties. It also hosts many concerts each
year.
